
South Africa will host the 15th BRICS Summit in Gauteng Province from August 22-24, 2023, Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele announced on Thursday.
During a media briefing on Wednesday, Gungubele revealed that the summit will focus on the theme: “BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development, and Inclusive Multilateralism.”
This year’s summit will mark South Africa’s leadership of the BRICS group, following its assumption of the chairmanship on January 1, 2023, taking over from China. The BRICS bloc consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
