India and Pakistan have exchanged their annual lists of nuclear installations and facilities, marking the 32nd consecutive exchange under a longstanding bilateral agreement, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The exchange took place simultaneously through diplomatic channels in New Delhi and Islamabad, in line with the 1988 agreement on the prohibition of attacks against each other’s nuclear installations. The agreement, which entered into force on January 27, 1991, requires both countries to inform each other of their nuclear facilities every year on January 1.
This year’s exchange is the 32nd since the first list was exchanged on January 1, 1992. The annual exchange aims to promote transparency and reduce the risk of nuclear conflict between the two neighboring countries.
