Death Toll in Bangladesh Floods Reaches 67, Millions Affected

The death toll from devastating floods in Bangladesh has risen to 67, including six women and 18 children, according to the National Disaster Response Coordination Center (NDRCC). The floods, primarily caused by the influx of upstream waters, have left nearly 6 million people affected.

The southeastern districts of Feni, Cumilla, and Noakhali have been the hardest hit, with 54 fatalities reported in these areas. Floodwaters have impacted 11 of the country’s 64 districts, causing extensive damage to homes, property, and crops.

As of the latest reports, more than 600,000 people remain stranded in flood-affected regions, particularly in southeastern and northeastern areas. However, officials report that floodwaters are beginning to recede in several southeastern districts.

Disaster response teams have been deployed to conduct rescue operations, distribute relief materials, and manage shelter centers for displaced individuals. The ongoing efforts are crucial as authorities work to provide aid and support to those impacted by the severe flooding.
