Bangladesh Showing Interest in Türkiye’s HİSAR-O Air Defense System

According to Turkish journalist Orhan Turan, Bangladesh has chosen HİSAR-O, Türkiye’s first medium-altitude air defense missile system developed by ASELSAN and Roketsan using national resources, over systems produced by the United States and Russia. Notably, Bangladesh placed its order for the HİSAR-O even before it was inducted into the Turkish Armed Forces Command inventory.

This decision highlights the growing global appeal of Türkiye’s defense technology. The HİSAR-O system, designed to neutralize fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and air-to-ground missiles, has a range of over 25 kilometers. It provides robust air defense for fixed units and critical infrastructure.

The selection of HİSAR-O reflects Türkiye’s significant progress in the military weapons industry. Turkish manufacturers, especially ASELSAN, have garnered international attention for their innovative and high-performing military vehicles and weapons.

As reported by the South Asian Monitor, Bangladesh’s decision to opt for HİSAR-O over the Russian Pechora 2M medium-range air defense system underscores its confidence in Turkish defense capabilities.

HİSAR-O is currently undergoing successful testing and is scheduled to join the Turkish Armed Forces Command inventory by 2021. This milestone agreement with Bangladesh demonstrates Türkiye’s expanding influence in the global defense market and its role as a reliable partner for friendly nations like Bangladesh.
